About Harish

Currently, Harish Tyagi is the Chief photographer (Indian sub-continent) for the European Pressphoto Agency EPA. He has also worked with the India’s leading newspapers viz The Indian Express and The Times of India. Harish is the only double recipient of the National Media Fellowship for photojournalists from the National Foundation for India during 2000-2001 and also in 2007-2008 when he worked on “Seasonal Distress Migration and its effects on Children”. He received the Gold Award (Nature and Environment category) at the First Indian Press Photographer’s Awards in December 2000. He was also felicitated by the prestigious International media publication “Editor and Publisher” for my picture on Tsunami in the News (Spot/General) category in 2005-06 and also won the Silver award in Spot news single category in 2005 in China International Press Photo Contest. He also awarded 1st prize in the Art and Entertainment category at the top Indian Ramnath Goenka Indian Press Photo Awards in 2004 and again first prize in 2008 for Nature and environment category.

His work is published in most International leading publications like The New York Times, Washington Post, The Guardian, BBC, TIME, USA Today, Chicago Tribune, UK Independent, Daily mail UK, The National, and CNN.

Born in 1972 in New Delhi, India He is a Master’s in Political Science from Delhi University and his core areas of interest include issues related to the human consequences of international and civil conflict, the environment, children, festivals and hard news.

Recently he won the Photo Journalist of the Year award, 2019 in Kalinga FCC Awards for Excellence in Journalism for his ongoing work on the pollution in the river Yamuna.

Harish is also selected as as Jury member in many national awards and also in International Andre Stenin Contest 2020.
